Dynamo | Dash Youth - East - Beaumont

Dynamo | Dash Youth is the only club in the Greater Houston area that provides the opportunity for competitive players, both boys and girls, to play at the highest ability level in the United States. The Dynamo | Dash Youth approach to competitive soccer is to teach skillful, possession oriented attacking soccer. Players are developed through a proven curriculum renowned for developing excellence, and as players progress, they can constantly be put into new situations to improve their development if that is what the player desires. For competitive players their goals include playing at the highest level within the club , ODP state teams, regional teams, national teams, college teams and professional teams. For our club, we want to push our players to “the next level”. This “next level” may be different for every player.

The Head Coach is responsible for the complete cycle of player development: Plan, Perform and Evaluate. The Head Coach is also supported by a Director of Coaching who is familiar with every team in their area, ensuring every player’s development is being planned and evaluated by at least two professional coaches in unification with The Dynamo | Dash Youth Way. The term “trainer” does not exist in our organization nor do we allow unqualified parents to make technical soccer related decisions. Parents provide administrative support only.

Our competitive boys program is directed by Keith Barrow.

The Soccer Tykes Program utilizes creative and imaginative games to focus on what we believe is the most basic and most important soccer skill, dribbling. In this classes the players will learn the importance on having control of the ball, they will be encouraged to dribble the soccer ball with different parts of their feet and rewarded for learning different moves outside of class. We also highlight positive character traits each sessions respect, team work, and appreciation.
Registration is taken online at a cost of $80 for all 10 sessions over the course of 5 weeks

What is the Skills Development Program (SDP)?

The SDP is a 6-week program, one session per week.  Players attend in a group of approximately 15 players for one hour.  Sessions are conducted by Thomas Shenton (Academy Director for Liverpool FCA).

Registration is open to boys and girls (sessions will most likely be co-ed).

Groups are capped at 15 players per night to maintain a good player/coach ratio.  If there is a high demand to operate two groups in one night, a second coach would be introduced.

SDP is for individuals only, there is no group discounts for teams.  However, you can encourage your teammates to sign up, so be quick before it fills up!

What is the cost?

Registration is taken online at a cost of $50 for all six sessions,

Tutor Program

The Dynamo | Dash Youth Tutor Program

The Dynamo | Dash Youth Tutor Program allows any competitive player additional opportunities to their regular training schedule. The purpose is to expose players to different training environments to enhance overall individual development.

For example: A U12 girl may attend a fourth session each week with the U11 Boys to improve a specific component of her game.

Requirements

Before attending an additional session through the Tutor Program, players must meet the following requirements.

  • Have a good attendance record for regular training and games with their team(determined by their head coach).
  • In good condition (physically and psychologically) to avoid burnout and overuse injuries.(determined by their Head Coach).
  • Must be in good financial standing with regards to their training (determined by the Executive Administrator).

Scheduling

Attending an additional session through the tutor program can be initiated in one of two ways:

  1. The Head Coach (or Director of Coaching) will recommend that a player attend another training session for developmental purposes.
  2. A parent requests an additional training session for their son/daughter by contacting their head coach via email.

The Head Coach and Director of Coaching will consider all requests based on the requirements detailed above. The technical coaching staff will determine which session a player attends in addition to regular training based on developmental needs and the availability of suitable training sessions.

A parent may not request a specific training session. The professional coaching staff determines this.

Only with the written approval of the Head Coach/Director of Coaching can a player attend an additional session through the Tutor Program.

The additional session should be attended each week through to the end of the current season.

Please communicate with the coaches concerned when you are unable to attend for session planning purposes.

For more information, please contact your Director of Coaching.

New player missing player placement (tryouts) dates protocols:

  • It is important for any NEW player(s) who will not be able to attend one or all tryout sessions for their age group to notify us. You will have an opportunity to be evaluated by a coach based on your availability.
  • If you arrive to the area after the player placement & tryout dates or the season has begun, you can schedule an alternate date for an evaluation by contacting Stuart Fitzsimons, Director of Coaching – Competitive at sfitzsimons@dynamodashyouth.com or call the Dynamo | Dash Youth office at 281-298-2180 and speak to a Administrator.

Player Placement & Tryout Information

Returning players, your evaluation has been an ongoing process since last August when the soccer year began. Each day whether the player has been training or playing in a game the team coach is evaluating their soccer abilities and their commitment to their team. Your placement on the team for the next year is determined mostly by their overall performance during the previous year’s play. Going into the tryouts, the Technical Staff will have a fair idea were the returning players fit when comparing their abilities. The tryout sessions are specifically used to compare returning players to any new players who attend the tryout sessions. Therefore we strongly recommend that players, returning and new, attend as many of the tryout sessions as possible to give themselves the best opportunity to be evaluated against all of their peers.

Each tryout session will last for an hour and a half and will consist of small-sided games such as 4v4 or 7v7 and full-sided games. When evaluating players during the season or at the tryout sessions, the Technical Staff evaluate each player in four different areas: technical (skill) speed of play, tactical (decision making) speed of play, physical (abilities) speed of play, and the competitive psychological traits of the player. In the first three areas identified above each player is evaluated on the speed to which they can execute skill with success, decide when and what to do and their movement around the field. In the fourth area, psychological competiveness, each player is evaluated on their competitive toughness: will to win, work rate and willingness to learn.

The only club that offers the highest level of competitive youth soccer for both boys and girls in the city of Houston (Development Academy – Girls / Boys) and has placed twenty seven (27) players into the soccer collegiate ranks for the fall of 2017.

Houston Dynamo | Dash is renowned internationally and domestically pertaining to the development of both female and male soccer players and the educational guidance they provide their players in the college recruiting process.  College recruitment and the entire eligibility process from grade 9-12 is becoming harder to navigate for any student-athlete and their family. Each student-athlete is completely unique and has a wide array of different goals and expectations.  Our student-athletes will be provided a concrete roadmap, which has a well-balanced lifestyle of academics and soccer choices at the collegiate level (NCAA Division I, II, III / NAIA / NJCAA).

The College Advisory Program (C.A.P.) was started in 2006 having placed over 215 student-athletes in collegiate soccer across the nation. US Soccer Development Academy (Boys & Girls)

U.S. Soccer Development Academy

What is the Development Academy Program?

Following a comprehensive review of elite player development in the United States and around the world, U.S. Soccer created the Development Academy in 2007. The Academy Program’s philosophy is based on increased training, less total games, and more meaningful games using international rules of competition.

The Academy has 150 total clubs, comprised of teams across five age groups: U-12, U-13, U-14, U-15/16, and U-17/18. The Academy is currently in the process of expanding its programming to include a Girls’ Development Academy that will begin in Fall 2017.

The Academy Program focuses on positively impacting everyday club environments to assist in maximizing youth player development across the country. The Academy values individual development of elite players over winning trophies and titles. The Academy sets the standard for elite environments for youth soccer clubs nationwide and is a part of U.S. Soccer’s global leadership position in youth soccer that will impact thousands of players.

Program Benefits

Age Groups

The Development Academy Program features combined age groups where identified players can “play up” within the club structure, as encouraged by U.S. Soccer Technical Staff.

  • Please note the Academy will not adopt the Birth Year Mandate until the 2017 season.
  • For example, the U-17/18 team should include a balanced mixture of 18-year-olds, 17-year-olds and a few exceptional 16-year-olds.

Consistent Training Environments

Development Academy clubs are required to train a minimum of four (4) days per week and rest one (1) day per week during the Academy season.

Fewer, More Meaningful Games

Each Academy team plays approximately 25-30 league games, including 6-9 games played at Showcases. Teams that advance from the Academy Playoffs could expect to play up to three (3) additional games.

Our game-to-training ratio ensures our players are getting adequate rest. Teams may have one (1) or two (2) games per weekend based on travel, with no more than one game per day.

No Outside Activity/Competitions

To maintain a focus on club training environments, Academy players and teams do not play in any outside competitions without written permission from the U.S. Soccer Development Academy staff. This includes any other leagues, tournaments, State Cup competitions, ODP or All-Star events. Development Academy players for all teams must choose to participate in the Academy full-time and forgo playing for their high school teams.

Full-time Academy players can only participate on their designated Academy team, with only two exceptions: U.S. Soccer Training Centers and Youth National Team duty.

The Development Academy upholds this rule because we believe elite players require world class environments. The Development Academy’s 10-month Program allows for a greater opportunity to institute style of play and implement a system according to U.S. Soccer’s Development Philosophy. It also gives teams increased opportunities for younger kids in their club to “play up” against older players in both training and matches, thereby accelerating their development.

International Standards

The DA follows international rules of competiton developed by FIFA. These include no reentry on substitutions, the January 1st birthday cutoff, and players playing-up with older teams when appropriate.

Professionalized Coaching

Players receive integrated oversight from Academy club coaches and U.S. Soccer Technical Advisors in their local environment. Developing a world-class coaching system is fundamental to developing world-class players. Education is a continuous process. As the game of soccer is constantly evolving, it is important that coaches are knowledgeable on current domestic and international trends. U.S. Soccer Coaching Education supports the Development Academy in its initiative to require minimum certification for all technical staff. These requirements can be seen below:

  • Academy club directors → USSF ‘A’ License and must complete the Academy Director’s course
  • Academy club technical staff → USSF ‘B’ license (minimum)

    • U.S. Soccer scouts attended over 50% (2,100+) of DA games in the 2014-2015 season
