Weather Update (8/20 @8:45 PM):  Update below:

Coaches, Team Managers & Players,

Thank you for your attendance at the Houston Youth Cup 2022!  We appreciate your flexibility and understanding with all game location and time changes.  This weekend’s event is being attended by 312 teams, ultimately playing in over 500 games across 11 sites.  Today alone, nearly 50 games were moved to avoid cancellation due to field conditions at their originally scheduled location. At this point, every game scheduled on Friday and Saturday has been completed.

As we look towards Sunday’s games, we have 8 grass fields that are not in playable condition due to weather experienced in the past 72 hours.  As a result, the schedule for Sunday, August 21 has been adjusted to ensure that each team is able to finish with a game tomorrow. To make this happen, we have had to cancel all finals and team advancements from the event. Please check your updated schedule immediately. Due to the quick turnaround, we are unable to assist with coaching conflicts by moving games at this point. We have prioritized the travelling teams with earlier game times, so they are able to get on the road sooner.

As a tournament committee, we have made these changes with the goal of providing everyone with some pre-season competition under very challenging circumstances. Last but not least, we sincerely appreciate your participation and wish you all the very best in the coming season.

We need your help! Houston Youth Cup is a HUGE event that needs a large number of staff and volunteers to make a tournament of this size work. This year we have over 275 teams playing across 8+ locations totally over 450 games! Over the course of the weekend, Tournament HQ and Field Marshaling volunteers are critical to the success of this tournament.

The main responsibility of the Field Marshall’s position is to notify the medical staff on site of any injuries during the games. Other responsibilities include monitoring and reporting the behaviour of the players, parents, coaches, and referees. Additionally, you will be required to make sure that the facilities are kept tidy and all trash is disposed of in the correct manner.

Volunteers placed at the Tournament HQ will help set up (early shift), assist with scorecards, help answer questions from tournament participants, and assist the Tournament Site Lead at that location.

To view and sign up for a volunteer shift, please click one of the links below. If you don’t see a site that your son and/or daughter are playing at this weekend or if your son/daughter is not playing this weekend, please chose a site that is convenient for you.
